“The living world is where we can be opened up in receptivity to a divine encounter. There is an invitation here, offered to all of us: in order to listen for the holy, to engage in intimate conversation with the sacred, one goes into the wilderness. (Church of the Wild p. 65).
Our time at Nymph Falls will include moving our bodies, plus time for reflection and deep listening. This is an opportunity to slow down, observe, and connect with the rhythms of the land. We will hike in together, building community and connection. Once at the Falls, we will enter a time of personal reflection, with optional prompts. Gathering back together, those who wish will share our thoughts and discoveries and we will hike out together. As with everything Weird Church, participation is by invitation and nothing we do is required.
What to Bring:
To ensure your comfort and enjoymentt, we suggest bringing the following items:
Something to sit on: A small mat or cushion will make your time for reflection more comfortable.
A journal or art workbook: Capture your thoughts, observations, and creative impulses as you engage with the natural surroundings.
Snacks: Fuel your body for the hike and your time of contemplation.
Water: Stay hydrated throughout the journey.
Weather-appropriate clothing and footwear: Dress in layers and wear sturdy shoes suitable for hiking to ensure you are comfortable regardless of the conditions.
We look forward to sharing this enriching experience with you as we collectively deepen our relationship with the land.
