Weekly Service: Prophetic Imagination

4:00 p.m.16:00

Weekly Service: Prophetic Imagination

This month all are invited into the sacred practice to see beyond what is and move toward what could be, confronting despair, embodying justice, and claiming hope as a radical act. Together we will find ourselves in ancient stories—and begin to dream not as escape, but as spiritual resistance.

Weekly services: Sundays at 4 pm (they can be accessed online HERE - Zoom ID 810 1877 0234).

Our services are like church…but weird. Following monthly themes, we come together for about an hour for prayer, music, readings, reflection, and a time of discussion. There are no requirements or barriers to participating in Weird Church and all are truly welcome regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status etc.

Children and Youth are celebrated and welcomed (with all the wiggles and noise and love they bring along with them) - programming will be available for those who would prefer thematic learning targeted toward a younger age range (roughly 6-12 but all are welcome).

Queerly Beloved

Alternating Tuesdays at 7pm: Queerly Beloved

A confidential and safe space to explore the intersection of queerness and Christianity with loads of room for unpacking, questions, sharing and healing.

please note:

Queerly Beloved is intended for those who identify as queer (or questioning) and not for allies. Together we will explore the unique intersection of gender, sexuality, and Christianity in a way that is fully affirming of the fullness of what it means to be human.

This group is for Queer folx who are wondering about Christianity, Christians who are exploring their queerness, and those who have been living in the world as out loud 2SLGBTQIA+ Christians for decades!

Due to the vulnerable nature of this exploration, we ask that allies not attend this specific space - there will be room for you in other events in the future, we promise! We know that not everyone in this group will be “out” in their daily lives, so confidentiality is of utmost concern for all who participate.

“The living world is where we can be opened up in receptivity to a divine encounter. There is an invitation here, offered to all of us: in order to listen for the holy, to engage in intimate conversation with the sacred, one goes into the wilderness. (Church of the Wild p. 65).

Our time at Nymph Falls will include moving our bodies, plus time for reflection and deep listening. This is an opportunity to slow down, observe, and connect with the rhythms of the land.  We will hike in together, building community and connection. Once at the Falls, we will enter a time of personal reflection, with optional prompts. Gathering back together, those who wish will share our thoughts and discoveries and we will hike out together.  As with everything Weird Church, participation is by invitation and nothing we do is required.

What to Bring:

To ensure your comfort and enjoymentt, we suggest bringing the following items:

  • Something to sit on: A small mat or cushion will make your time for reflection more comfortable.

  • A journal or art workbook: Capture your thoughts, observations, and creative impulses as you engage with the natural surroundings.

  • Snacks: Fuel your body for the hike and your time of contemplation.

  • Water: Stay hydrated throughout the journey.

  • Weather-appropriate clothing and footwear: Dress in layers and wear sturdy shoes suitable for hiking to ensure you are comfortable regardless of the conditions.

We look forward to sharing this enriching experience with you as we collectively deepen our relationship with the land.

Questions? Concerns? Please email ingrid@weirdchurchcumberland.com or call/text Ingrid directly 250-218-7641

The Bible is Weird

Alternating Tuesdays at 7pm: The Bible is Weird

Have you read it?

The Bible is weird, and misused, and misunderstood and beautiful and terrible. Join Ingrid and others as we unpack, dissect, learn and discuss parts of the Bible, Weird Church style.

As with all things Weird Church, we celebrate a diversity of perspectives and encourage folks from all religions, races, socio-economic backgrounds, genders, sexualities and families to join us.
