Genesis 1:31 - 2:1-4, IHB Translation
This reading is from Genesis - a book in both the Torah - the Jewish Scriptures and the Christian Bible.

This little reading comes after the beautiful metaphor that describes in poetic story from the Big Bang to the culmination of the way the Earth is as we know it today.

This is the IHB translation - the Ingrid Hartloff Brown translation, which is both translation and interpretation.  Here we go:

God saw everything: the land and seas, the stars and comets.  God marvelled at the big and the small: the galaxies and the micro-organisms and saw that it was good.  It was indeed, very good.
And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth “day”.
And so the dream was complete: the cosmos and the planets and all the multitude were underway, expanding and becoming.
And so God took a Holy Pause - not an exhausted flop but an intentional stoppage of work, to take time to reflect on all that had come to pass.
It was such a good idea that God blessed the rest and reflect day, so that all would have the instinct and invitation to do the same: to gaze lovingly over the earth, reflect on the week’s work, and breathe.

We are invited this July into a Holy Pause, a time to reflect on all that has come to pass and gaze lovingly over the earth.

See you in August,

Rev. Ingrid
